Understanding how important education is to the growth of aspiring musicians, we offer FREE clinics and masterclasses all over Southern California. These are unique opportunities to get up close and personal with career musicians and performers.

Since 2016, we have proudly offered free clinics for music programs at middle schools, high schools, and colleges across Southern California.

These clinics are led by marimba artists, percussionists, and musicians in the area, who will share their musical knowledge and experience in the music industry. Clinics also give students an opportunity to perform their own music and receive feedback from the clinician.

Topics of the clinics vary depending on the clinician and specific requests from the schools. Some examples are: performance technique, ensemble playing, color and texture in music, etc.

If your school is interested in hosting SCM for a clinic, please reach out to us at inspire@scmarimba.org. We will go to your school at no cost for you!

Masterclasses focus more on the skills and techniques of the participating students.

While the program of a masterclass depends largely on the featured artist, it typically includes a lecture on a musical concept, performances from students, and in-depth feedback from the artist.

All masterclasses are open to the public and free for students. Those interested in performing can sign up prior for consideration. Whether performing or not, our masterclasses are an invaluable opportunity for any percussionists to learn from and connect with other artists.

A SCM masterclass usually precedes an evening concert and is hosted by the featured artist(s) of the concert. Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates!
