
SCM is proud to host the “Mt. San Antonio College Marimba Festival” to create an educational platform for college and High school age percussionists to network, learn from world class musicians, perform, and grow in their musical development. The Festival welcomes regional and international musicians to showcase their talents in Marimba masterclasses and Festival recital performances.
About:
-Masterclass format, participants will have the opportunity to perform in TWO masterclasses each day. One with Dr. Matthew Lau, and One with Naoko Takada
-Each day will end with a Marimba recital. Top performing participants of the day will be invited to perform their prepared solos, and the faculty will perform a solo recital.
-Top performers of the weekend, selected by the faculty, will be eligible to receive prizes from Marimba One, and Salyers Percussion.
-If they feel they may not be ready to participate, they may also attend all masterclasses and recitals as “audience” members.
Participant age limits: Open to High school and College age percussionists (includes Graduate and Doctoral students) , International performers, age 16 and up.
Location: Mt. San Antonio College, Building 2 rm 200, located in Walnut, California. 25 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles.
Dates and Times: Saturday August 9, 2025. 9am-7pm, Sunday August 10, 2025. 10am-6pm
